Sunday Oct 21, 2018
On September 14, 2018, 17 year long veteran teacher Diana Tirado was terminated from her job as a US History teacher at West Gate K-8 School in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. She was on a probationary contract and was not given a reason for her termination. On her last day of work, Diane decided to share her reason for why she was fired through a message to her students that she wrote on a dry erase board. She then took a picture of the message and sent it to her students through a class app. That message has been shared through social media and other news outlets, and now Diane is getting a lot of attention from what has happened. In this episode, the details of what has been released are broken down and so is the response from Port Saint Lucy’s superintendent Wayne E. Gent.

001: Teacher Care Now - Introduction
Sunday Sep 23, 2018
Sunday Sep 23, 2018
Teacher Care Now is a teacher support community led by, Joycesonia Lawson, a public school teacher for over 18 years. Teacher Care Now is here to help teachers reprioritize our lives and improve our health, wellness, time management, work satisfaction, and family time. Many teachers suffer from stress, depression, being overworked, overwhelmed, and under supported. This is not best for our students, but more importantly our families or our health and wellness.
When teachers take care of ourselves, we are in a better mental, physical, social, and emotional state to take care of others. In education, we ignore the elephant in the room and continue to put more pressure on teachers. We fail to address that fact that “Student Care is not important if Teacher Care is not important.” Unfortunately, teacher care is not a priority in the educational system and because we continue to try to do more and more with less -it is affecting our work performance, families, and personal health.
Teachers are important. Teachers are valuable. Teachers deserve to be at our best and our families and students deserve us at our best. That all starts with Teacher Care Now!
